We say:
Who woulda thought? The House of Peace and Love right in Sac City Iowa! OK...we love Iowa..."...best state in the land, joy in every hand..." (if we remember our State Songs from camp days, and we believe we do, that's a line from theirs) but really, who woulda thunk you'd find this there? It's very...coastal...but how cool that it's there! The photographer notes that it was the Old Chinese Laundry from 1920 to 1930...which is interesting itself. Wonder who lives there. Anybody from Io-way know?

I,m so very happy to find my humble litle building on the web. It has been repainted since but the "Peace & Love" is still proudly visable. I don't have an e-mail address, just 'snial mail'. My name is Bryan but I'm also known as Bree Anne (but that's another story). The building was a Chinese Laundry from 1920 to 1930 belonging to Dea Sing and Pon Gong. They were harrassed by a large group of Ku Klux Klansmen during the summer of 1924 but still remained as did the two Greeks who operated the Kandy Kitchen on Main Street at the time. The new Drycleaning Business started by a man named Korneisel forced them out in 1930. He bought the building and used it for cleaning and also storage. He built an airconditioned fur vault in the basement for storing ladie's furs during the summer. I'm happy to write to anyone who wishes to write. My address is: Bree Anne Buckley, 106 SW State Street, Sac City, Iowa 50583-2346, Thanks and Peace be with you...
